Achoo! Warm weather is here!
A long awaited Minnesota summer is upon us. Pretty flowers, green grass and warm weather accompanied by sneezing, watery eyes and itchy skin. These are all things we see in spring and summer. I love the warmer weather, but with that comes my seasonal allergies. I know I’m not the only one. Once a symptom starts, there are some things that we should do to help support our bodies and decrease symptoms.
1. Drink enough water every day. This sounds like an easy one, but many people do not drink enough fluid each day to help their system flush out allergens. You should shoot for a minimum of 64 ounces a day. Fill up a water bottle and take it with you!
2. Take supplemental support. Great supplements for seasonal allergies are NAC, bromelin, stinging nettle, and vitamin C. All these supplements can be taken individually or they can be found together in one capsule, like Orthomolecular D-hist. You can find this at Tailor Made Nutrition or you can order it online.
3. Frequently wash pillowcases and bedding. Once a week is great.
4. Rinse off face and rinse out nasal passages after being outdoors. Using a Nettie pot can do wonders.
5. Get adjusted or do acupuncture for facial pressure. Getting adjusted and/or acupuncture can help move fluid and also decongest passageways to help the body drain mucus.
Hopefully these tidbits can help your spring and summer season be more enjoyable. Stay healthy and we’ll see you next time!
